Nic salt vs freebase e-liquid

The difference between nicotine salts and freebase, which strength to choose, and which devices each is made for.

Nicotine salts

Smooth even at higher strengths, so they’re made for small, low-power MTL pods. Usually 30 ml bottles at 20–35 mg. Ideal if you’re switching from cigarettes.

Freebase

Harsher at high strength, so it’s sold at 3–6 mg (sometimes 12 mg) in 60 ml bottles for RDL/DL pods, pod mods and sub-ohm tanks that make more vapour.

Picking a strength

  • Pack-a-day smoker, MTL pod: 30–35 mg salt.
  • Light smoker or occasional vaper: 20 mg salt.
  • RDL pod at 0.4–0.6 Ω: 3–6 mg freebase or 20 mg salt.
  • Pod mod / sub-ohm tank: 3 mg freebase.

Why we stop at 40 mg

We only list strengths up to 40 mg/ml, in line with Pakistan’s proposed nicotine cap. Higher strengths make it easier to over-consume nicotine.
